Life Insurance Needs Analysis

How much life insurance do you need?

A useful estimate starts with your real responsibilities and the resources available to meet them—not a universal salary multiple.

A NEEDS-BASED ESTIMATE

Build the need from the ground up.

Start with the income a spouse or partner would need and the years that support may be required. Then consider one-time and continuing obligations such as a mortgage, other debts, education goals, final expenses, caregiving, and business commitments.

Next, identify existing life insurance, employer coverage, and assets genuinely available for those purposes. An asset earmarked for retirement or a business may not be readily available to support the same need twice.

01

What needs funding?

Income replacement, housing, debts, education, final expenses, and future family or business obligations.

02

What resources exist?

Existing insurance, employer benefits, savings, and assets that can realistically be used for the need.

03

What could change?

Health, employment, dependents, spouse or partner needs, inflation, and how long support may be required.

A shortfall estimate is a starting point.

A preliminary comparison may subtract available resources from identified obligations to highlight a potential coverage gap. It does not determine the right policy, account for every tax or legal issue, or replace professional analysis.

The future Protection Analyzer will help organize these inputs. Its results will be educational estimates, followed by an optional conversation.
